Your "but" is in the way!!
Do you find yourselves starting your excuses with the word "but"...?
It’s so easy to point our fingers at all the reasons why we aren’t doing what we are called to do. Why we aren’t where we wished we were. Why our marriage didn’t work. Why we didn’t get the job. But...can I be honest? Are you sure? Your “but” is in the way!!
We are all guilty from time to time. Listen to this question asked by Jesus. "Do you want to be made well?" John 5:6 NKJV
Will he give an excuse?
This man was just a few feet away from his healing, but excuse after excuse he was convinced his lack of healing was due to circumstances around him. But God. Yes, I said it "BUT" God used Jesus to enlighten him and get to the heart of his excuses.
"The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”" John 5:7 NKJV
Sis, Could our “buts” be our safety net, our way of protecting ourselves from the truth. Maybe, your marriage didn’t work because you were too prideful. Maybe you didn’t get the job because, you didn’t take the interview seriously or maybe there was someone who was actually more qualified. Maybe your children are not in the ways of the lord because, as parents we didn’t show them the way. Maybe you haven’t gotten over the death of a loved one because you are not ready to let go. In all cases, could this just be an excuse?
Sis, sip-on this...
Are you making excuses?
"Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” 9 And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked." John 5:8 NKJV
Sis... Lose the “but” and walk into your healing, purpose, faith, your victory!
"When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that a he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, "Do you want to be made well?" The sick man answered Him, "Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is tripped up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me." Jesus said to him, "Rise, take up your bed and walk."
